Sexy
Yeah, this song is very cool. From the opening lick I was very excited. This song is sexy. You can taste a little Fiona Apple in there, but there is this jazz club vibe to it. The track sounds very live. I like the structure of the song with the whispers and stops. The only thing that sounded a little out of place was the strummed guitar. It was little muddy and I think a firmer sound would do the song a little more justice. I kind of wanted more, too. It just seemed like it was about to open up, and then it was over. Keep the style. It is very smart and interesting.

Love The Mix of The Voices
Nice jazz-inflected guitar parts, with fingersnaps, and a great harmony sound between the male and female vocals. Interesting set of lyrics, with a very film-noir feel. Overall this is a really good song. The only change I would make is taking a bit of the echo off the guitar when the power chords are played. The fingerpicking is really good.

Great use of space
The melody sounds like Faith No More "Girl, would you like some candy?" off of Epic. Maybe he got it from somewhere else, I don't know.
Everything is well done though.
Nice tones from all intruments including the vocals, both lead and backing.
I like the speeding up of the tempo towards the end.
Lots of space used here. Very sparse and effective. I like the endin note.
Very well done.

Brilliant jazzy vocals with a bit of pop expe..
This is great. I would look for an entire CD based on just this listen. So many interesting things happening musically in a teasingly short piece.

Jazzy groove, well played fingerstyle guitar. Beautiful voices that blend very well, although I'm not big on the whispering "worthless" in the male voice. Piano comes in and adds but subtly. Lots of intersting rhythmic and harmonic changes in here. I love the breaks. 2:36 is way too short for this. I can honestly say that on one listen, I didn't really get into the lyrics because there are so many cool things going on elsewhere. This may be the first song I'm listening to twice for a review. Lyrics are good, fit the song perfectly, but are not what you want attention centering around anyway.

My favorite artist doing anything approaching this is Cassandra Wilson. Similar risks being taken.

Superb work

Fun
Nice feel. I would have preferred the female vocal alone. She has a great instrument. Good song.

Have I heard this before?
There is nothing here that I find particularly unique. But that doesn't mean that the technical execution suffers at all. Quite the opposite: the vocal blend is nice, the guitar sounds lovely and I especially like that the ending just cuts. I get the feeling, though, that these two vocalists are capable of greater heights.

NEW! Signature Reviews from Garageband.com

WOW!! I am not real impressed with many bands I review here but yours blew me away. I was suprised because I don't usually like this genre of music. After i reviewed "With the Leaves" I started making all kinds of plans for this song! Like how it would be great music to play for my husband during a romantic dinner or how nice it would be to hear during a country drive or even just a bubble bath! lol
It has a definate mood to it. I am sending you a friend request on MySpace too. I think you really have talent and it's good to hear originality in a world of cookie cutter tunes.

Rock on!

Epic
Let's start with the fact that it takes balls of steel to upload a nearly eight minute song for the notoriously attention-deficit garageband.com crew to review. I admit I probably groaned audibly when the time indicator popped up.

But, then I was catapulted into the song by that lovely acoustic guitar and the harmonics, and we were off . . This song builds nicely up to the 'So Alone' line.

An interesting call and response type of vocal in the first segment. Very tight. The female voice particularly is wonderfully racked with emotion, she seems like she would be comfortable in many different genres. Overall the music itself and the performance particularly were very strong

An interesting cross pollenation of styles. There are elements of a lot of different styles at work here

The banjo and harp passage was particularly delightful then the dobro slides in and the mood is painted wonderfully.

The weakness, (if there was one) I felt was in the lyrics. With an obvious attempt at something truly epic, here . . . a few of the phrases seemed a little contrived; ie. 'feeling so abused'.

I didn't care too much for the dischordant vocal slide at around 3:07. Other than that, it's an extrordinary effort, and I'm very excited to hear more from this band. Good luck!
