holy crap
holy crap, how am i supposed to choose between this song and the one i just heard? they both kick so much ass.
the harmony on "oh" is echoed by a cello which is so frickin' cool. nice arrangement. the tinkling piano gives me shivers. so sad and gripping. thank you for this song, i hope you do well.

Simply Beautiful.
Finally! you are the kind of artist i love to see getting your music out there. Your song was melodic and beautiful! your harmonies were really great! you have a delicate voice that i like alot. The piano is recorded very well it impressed me. Its not just a crappy keyboard like most of the guys on here. A lot of Ooohing and not too many lyrics but i actually like that being an Ooohing savant as well. The harmonies are really impressive. The little string part twards the end could use a little work. It cut off too soon. My ear kept wanting it to stay down longer after it sled. Not many bad things to say about it. Overall a really impressive song right in my niche. I really enjoyed it.

dreamy
i like the fade in at the start, conveying a very dreamy feel. great harmonies continue this mood, used sparingly but at just the right points.

this is a well written track that benefits from its simple arrangement, the sparce harmonics working very well. i'd play this when I was feeling sleepy - but then i might have to put it on again!

Awesome intro
I am loving the intro to this song. The acoustic guitar adds a sense of life to the song.

The vocals are very interesting and original. They vocalist is very clear and has a great range. I cant think of one artist that the singer sounds like. Originality is the key to success.

Overall, the production is great, guitar is awesome, and the vocals are as cool as hell.

nice
intro is pleasently sparse, perhaps a little too sparse, the vocals are nice, but nothing great. not enough grit for my own paticular preference. the backing vocls work nice, the piano, fits nicely with the harmonics, teh strings, are good too, perhaps start with the strings? i would, at least. needs some kind of change of pace, dynamic, a middle eight

Relaxing
Quiet recording, so can't hear as much as I'd like. Very nice vocal harmonies and relaxing guitars well accompanied by the piano and string arrangement. Seems to wander a bit without much deviation from a path set out from the outright, but it seems to work with it's style. Not much in the way of a memorable hook as such, but very relaxing and evocative.

after hours
This has that late night, corner of the coffee house feel. Very nice ambiance, and I love the strings. Good vocal harmony, and tight lyrical arrangement make it a song I think I could listen too over and over on a rainy day.
- captain_mudflap from Magnolia, Texas on 16May2006

introspective
the first thing to hit you are the very smooth and pretty vocals. Almost a CSN type beginning. I thought the intro was a bit long before getting to the meat of the song.
While the performance was very good and highly skilled, the overall song didn't do much for me. Not a lot of variation to catch and hold the listener even though what was there was done very well.

I think this song would be a good lead into a more instumentaly dramatic peice, but on it's own, just didn't keep my intereset as good as I'd hoped with the opening promise.

The new age folk revolution has been spawned!
This has a real snowlitude flow to it, you can really feel the chambers of reverb as if listening thru a crystalline frozen wall of
icy matter. The band has allowed for the singular immersion package here, where the listener is placed into a chamber of total synchronic harmony, theres nothing to seperate the members here, it is like the deep calling of the frigid tundra.
Alone this flows into ones inner being in a crowd it is melted away into its own oblivion.
- jcodyscooby from Unspecified on 15May2006

Quiet
Very soft...one or two note accents from the piano. Nice harmonies. The mood is nice.
- Sinferno from Portland, Maine on 9May2006

Great vocals!
I like how the guitar is introduced with one single note, before it starts playing, the piano enters in a very subtle sparce way. And then the voice is introduced by a breath before any singing starts- nice touch!
Very nice voice, nicely recorded, and vocal harmonies work really well. I also like how the line from the vocal Ooh's are picked up by the bowed bass/cello.
Lots of space, which is nice.
- Najazz from Unspecified on 9May2006

Very gentle
Something about this reminded me ever so slightly of a 1970 Elton John song called 'come down in time'. Now please don't get me wrong - you don't sound like Elton nor have you nicked his ideas. Come down in time is a classic song - it one of those songs you come back to year after year and its always good. I think you've captured something of that essence - your track is cool and classy. Its quite timeless no hint of fashion nor fad.

The lyrics are mature and thoughtful - the vocals, particularly the backing vocals, are heavenly. The production is also extremely good - there is great seperation of the instruments - everything has clarity and depth. I love the violin? (cello) creeping in and adding a little tension/atmosphere.

The is great - well done - I wish you every success.

a well balanced performance
this is a great example of garageband fine music! this is a very dynamic well performed track - the use of harmonies over the guitar is clean and crisp and very pleasing to the ear - it is well mixed and very moody - the "harmonic" breaks are very well placed and keep the song together - excellent recording to boot!

Review
Cool intro. Like the use of vocals. REally like the harmonies, use of piano. Is that a cello I hear in the backround? You could bring that out more I think. Cool song. Very soothing

Relaxing song
This is a nice relaxing song. The harmonies are nice. I like the guitar. The subtle piano is peaceful.
- Lauricia from Unspecified on 7May2006

Nice
Quaint little song. Complementary harmonies. The keys seem a little out of time at times and seems to come in when they want to... or the keyboard player is concentrating on another instrument being played at the same time? The vocals, are lovely, clear, dreamy and passionate voices. Could've gone on a little longer for me.
- Bluessinger1 from United Kingdom on 6May2006

Cool Intro
I really dig the vocal that comes in during the guitar picking. The harmony is good, but a little hot, and flat. The male vocalist is amazing.. incredible voice. The female isn't quite as good, perhaps some training to equal out, because its quite cool what you're doing here. The strings add a great layer, and the dribbling piano is awesome. Very cool Textures at 1:44. Great song!
- JFinck from Spokane, Washington on 6May2006

Rainy piano piece- oooh!
Song should start after the first set of ooohs, but I liked it anyway. At only 3:07, this is not a big deal. The first real lyric doens't com in until 0:46 - almost a third of your time has passed.

Love the addition of the cello at 1:20. If it's a plug-in it sounds pretty good. Try a shaker too or a cabasa to keep up the momentum..

The visuals in the lyric support the message well. (trying to forget bitter childhood) However, the pitch correction is a bit obvious and can distract- try a 'soft-knee' or slower attack setting if you get the chance to remix.

If your goal is to get it published, don't forget to make an instrumental mix - instrumentals ar easier to place and make more money than regular songs.

all the best

Musically Interesting...
This song is just interesting...The song opens with a harmonic note on the guitar and piano playing comes into the song but the fact that very few notes are played on the piano adds a nice touch to the song. In this case less is better than more. The piano and guitar mesh well together. The vocals are smooth and soothing and have just the right mix of effects. The strings fit the song well and add a nice touch.

My only critique was that the lyrics just didn't jump out at me. I don't know if it was because of the singing style, if there was so much going on musically that it captured my attention or if it was the lyrics themself...either way they just didn't make a lasting impression but the music was very nice.

NEW! Signature Reviews from Garageband.com

WOW!! I am not real impressed with many bands I review here but yours blew me away. I was suprised because I don't usually like this genre of music. After i reviewed "With the Leaves" I started making all kinds of plans for this song! Like how it would be great music to play for my husband during a romantic dinner or how nice it would be to hear during a country drive or even just a bubble bath! lol
It has a definate mood to it. I am sending you a friend request on MySpace too. I think you really have talent and it's good to hear originality in a world of cookie cutter tunes.

Rock on!

Epic
Let's start with the fact that it takes balls of steel to upload a nearly eight minute song for the notoriously attention-deficit garageband.com crew to review. I admit I probably groaned audibly when the time indicator popped up.

But, then I was catapulted into the song by that lovely acoustic guitar and the harmonics, and we were off . . This song builds nicely up to the 'So Alone' line.

An interesting call and response type of vocal in the first segment. Very tight. The female voice particularly is wonderfully racked with emotion, she seems like she would be comfortable in many different genres. Overall the music itself and the performance particularly were very strong

An interesting cross pollenation of styles. There are elements of a lot of different styles at work here

The banjo and harp passage was particularly delightful then the dobro slides in and the mood is painted wonderfully.

The weakness, (if there was one) I felt was in the lyrics. With an obvious attempt at something truly epic, here . . . a few of the phrases seemed a little contrived; ie. 'feeling so abused'.

I didn't care too much for the dischordant vocal slide at around 3:07. Other than that, it's an extrordinary effort, and I'm very excited to hear more from this band. Good luck!
