Interesting
I love the breathy vocals at the beginning and the progression of instrumentals from beginning to end. It takes a musical theme and builds upon it, takes it up and brings it back down to where you started. Nice.

Nice sound
Was that just the beginning of stairway to heaven? I think it was. As least the first section of it. Cool singer. Reminds me of Grace Slick a lot. Nice recording. This song reminds me of PJ Harvey a lot too. The song isn't bad. It has its place. Not something I would normally listen to, but I think you have a nice sound.

Sexy Folkie
Great voice. Very sensual and I enjoy the sort of slow jazzy feel that it maintains. I would think it would be really great if you ran with that gypsy feel even more if possible (ie adding some odd stringed instruments in the production.) The structure reminds me of a Jeff Buckley song... which is a great compliment coming from me. Great tune guys. Really good work.

Also, no Stairway to Heaven.

Passionate vocals
No doubt the female vocals are the emphasis on this number. I certainly enjoy the strength and tone in her voice. The thing that really stands out is the emotion and passion that she sings with, much like that of Martha Davis. Overall the song seems to flow along nicely in a laid back but very passionate tone. Nice simple use of instruments played quite flawlessly. Clear and smooth, enjoyable tune.
I do have to deduct a little in the originality department, the first 9 notes and the final 9 being that of the start of Stairway to Heaven, hmm, didn't really work for me. Otherwise, fine job!

Good voice
Nice chord progression. Singer has a very strong and energetic voice. The drums have a nice groove. Nice change in mood around 1:45. I think the drums could be a little louder in the mix.
- quanuum from Charleston, Illinois on 15May2006

Could see more instruments in this
the guitar seems out of time, with the vocals in the beginning, the vocals sound really sexy, really nice voice, good harmonies, interesting change in the middle. Keep recording new tunes!!

Competent Composition
OK, best song I've heard so far on Garageband.com. Singer knows what she's doing, well-composed chord progression, and supported but not drenched by the accompanyment.
I like the tempo changes, the starts and stops, though if someone wants to dance they might object. If they want to dance, they can keep dancing, eh? I find it makes the structure of the piece more interesting. The harmonies are well done, below the melody instead of just pasting it on a third above.

Singer's voice reminds me at different times of Joan Armatrading or Fiona Apple.

Snare work is tasty.

Potential
Some real talent here...but...it took too long to show up in this song and when it did it was inconsistant. For example...I love the tone of the voice but it is out of tune sometimes, the guitar has some virtuoso moments but then some real bloopers as well. My advice is practice the hell out of the song for 6 days then leave it for a day or two then try again.

blue
soulful, jazzy, blue.very sad in the good sounding way.the bands not to bad.smoky filled bar song.the more i listen to the voice ,the more i like the tonal qualitys, fullness of it.it really brings me to that feeling.good job.

Moody
Female vocals are always a turn on for me. So excuse me while I write a completely biased review. First off the variations in this song are just spot on. Its nearly finished and I haven't stopped to notice how many leaves are falling. The intro and outro are unique even if not completely original.

I like the way the drums really accompany this track - they don't barge in when they're not wanted and they don't leave when they're needed. They vary and keep things interesting the whole way through.

I'm not sure about the backing vocals. I don't think they are necessary with such a strong performance up front. I'm sure they would add a lot to a live performance but not when you can make the lead vocals really stand out in a recording.

This song has perfect flow and character right from start to finish and there aren't many things I would change.

stairway
in the beginning I wondered if this was stairway to heaven.

NEW! Signature Reviews from Garageband.com

WOW!! I am not real impressed with many bands I review here but yours blew me away. I was suprised because I don't usually like this genre of music. After i reviewed "With the Leaves" I started making all kinds of plans for this song! Like how it would be great music to play for my husband during a romantic dinner or how nice it would be to hear during a country drive or even just a bubble bath! lol
It has a definate mood to it. I am sending you a friend request on MySpace too. I think you really have talent and it's good to hear originality in a world of cookie cutter tunes.

Rock on!

Epic
Let's start with the fact that it takes balls of steel to upload a nearly eight minute song for the notoriously attention-deficit garageband.com crew to review. I admit I probably groaned audibly when the time indicator popped up.

But, then I was catapulted into the song by that lovely acoustic guitar and the harmonics, and we were off . . This song builds nicely up to the 'So Alone' line.

An interesting call and response type of vocal in the first segment. Very tight. The female voice particularly is wonderfully racked with emotion, she seems like she would be comfortable in many different genres. Overall the music itself and the performance particularly were very strong

An interesting cross pollenation of styles. There are elements of a lot of different styles at work here

The banjo and harp passage was particularly delightful then the dobro slides in and the mood is painted wonderfully.

The weakness, (if there was one) I felt was in the lyrics. With an obvious attempt at something truly epic, here . . . a few of the phrases seemed a little contrived; ie. 'feeling so abused'.

I didn't care too much for the dischordant vocal slide at around 3:07. Other than that, it's an extrordinary effort, and I'm very excited to hear more from this band. Good luck!
