Cat Stevens meets Joni Mitchell
Lovely guitar picking intro to the song. Then that cool riff on the acoustic guitar! Man you can play that thing well! The vocals don’t start until 1:39 and the song is almost at half way point. Although I love the intro I do feel that it is too long.
But when the vocals do cut in! WOW! How cool does it sound with those clever lyrics and the rhythmic approach? I’m expecting bass drums or even electric guitars but all I hear is those tapping drums. It still sounds good because the song has real strength but I’d prefer more instrumentation by the first chorus. The female voice reminds me of Joni Mitchell whilst the male vocals remind me of a snappier Cat Stevens!
Her high vocal at 3:28 is a bit sharp?
I blink and it’s over!!! I mean this song is potentially great! … guys!
Shorten the intro! Add more instrumentation! Add a middle section and add a final chorus with both of you singing in some beautiful harmony and you’ll have a truly great song!
I enjoyed it very much and thank you!

Unconnected elements.
The instrumental introduction was waaaaaaay too long! Basically there were three disjointed sections to this and then the long awaited (male) vocal finally comes in at the 1:40 point. I thought that the piece was an instrumental by that point. Then at the 2:50 mark an unrelated female voice comes in. Where did she come from?

Too many unconnected elements to this composition. If it's a song, then listeners want to get to the words much sooner. Then listeners need to hear how the two seperate vocalists are connected.

not folkin rock.
hmmm. this reminds me kinda of our lady peace. if there's a better category for it, i'd move it over. but a pretty good recording. good instrumentals, clear vocals, particularly the chick. that was surprising. not bad.

SKREWTOPS REVIEW
NICE GIT INTRO. DIDN'T PREPARE ME FOR WHAT WAS COMMIN. DECENT GROOVE. DIGGIN THE SHE VOX...LITTLE LOOSE BUT DOOABLE (THE SONG I MEAN.).. A PRETTY SIMPLE MIX. EESSSS OK... A OK JOB ....KEEP EM COMIN

Where's the violin and sax?
Lightly picked descending acoustic guitar line with some brushed cymbals to open the song. Then kicks into a fast strummed chord progression and a snare drum which kind of gets buried under the guitar. Long intro 1:40.

Wow, I was going to say this sounded like Dave Matthews Band, but after the vocals came in, that comes off as an understatement. This kind of stuff was pretty popular when I was in college about 10 years ago. Now, I assume Dave Matthews still has a career, but he's living off of past achievements. I don't know how far you could go with this style now.

Female vocals come in 3/4 of the way through the song. They weren't as good as the male vocal, I'll say that. And they sort of came out of nowhere. If this was a duet, it seems like there should have been more back and forth and some harmonies. As is, Dude sings, Girl sings, Dude sings repeated line one last time at the end.

I don't know. This didn't really do it for me. Pleasant stuff to listen to, but a bit derivative in my opinion. Better than what I've heard at some open mics, but that's not saying much. Overall, I didn't dislike the song, but I'm also not very curious to hear more.

NEW! Signature Reviews from Garageband.com

WOW!! I am not real impressed with many bands I review here but yours blew me away. I was suprised because I don't usually like this genre of music. After i reviewed "With the Leaves" I started making all kinds of plans for this song! Like how it would be great music to play for my husband during a romantic dinner or how nice it would be to hear during a country drive or even just a bubble bath! lol
It has a definate mood to it. I am sending you a friend request on MySpace too. I think you really have talent and it's good to hear originality in a world of cookie cutter tunes.

Rock on!

Epic
Let's start with the fact that it takes balls of steel to upload a nearly eight minute song for the notoriously attention-deficit garageband.com crew to review. I admit I probably groaned audibly when the time indicator popped up.

But, then I was catapulted into the song by that lovely acoustic guitar and the harmonics, and we were off . . This song builds nicely up to the 'So Alone' line.

An interesting call and response type of vocal in the first segment. Very tight. The female voice particularly is wonderfully racked with emotion, she seems like she would be comfortable in many different genres. Overall the music itself and the performance particularly were very strong

An interesting cross pollenation of styles. There are elements of a lot of different styles at work here

The banjo and harp passage was particularly delightful then the dobro slides in and the mood is painted wonderfully.

The weakness, (if there was one) I felt was in the lyrics. With an obvious attempt at something truly epic, here . . . a few of the phrases seemed a little contrived; ie. 'feeling so abused'.

I didn't care too much for the dischordant vocal slide at around 3:07. Other than that, it's an extrordinary effort, and I'm very excited to hear more from this band. Good luck!
