60's Blues Rock
A very cool 60's vibe to this track, almost a "Buffalo Springfield" feel. The male vocalist does a very good "Stephen Stills" But there is also a very sweet voiced female here too, entertwining in and around the male lead, very cool stuff. I like the Blues licks that open the song, and then coninue as fills the rest of the way through, a very "emotional" player. On second listen, the female gives off a "Grace Slick" vibe, also cool. The only other instrument here seems to be an acoustic guitar on rythmn, recorded very well. The quickness in the male vocal line can be a little hard to follow, but makes this a very good song nonetheless. Production is nice an clean. I like this.

Interesting ModernJazz Blues Take
Hmmmm - sort of scat singing in a strange arrangement. Pretty original cut!! I love the mellowness of this track - its pretty very moody and very well constructed.
- jambones from Syracuse, New York on 20May2006

slide on!
love the way this eases in!! interesting vocals from each lead vocalist..male and female vocals have some chemistry going on...very laid back as this could benefit with a slight dynamic explosion at some point..some power guitar chords would knock my socks off, but i am really enjoying this just the same..the power of a pretty girl can give even the boldest man a case of stage fright.i can relate with being on stage and knowing there are some pretty girls in the house and the pressure is on to leave a good lasting impression cause where there are girls the guys will follow and you have a party!!!!a gig is one big party isnt it?..cool song and nice performance!!

New and ntriguing
The male lead vocal has a great tone. The song as a whole loses me when the female vocalist jumps. I really like the acoustic guitar. It is subtle and fits in the song beautifully.

dug it
Cool intro! I like the tag team male/female vocal. I really love her voice as well! very cool feel as well. very contemporary approach to this style of music!

loved it!

sounded like jason mraz meets edie brickell

Very unusual
This was very nice. Very unusual and it got me hooked. I liked it a lot. It sounded cool straight away and the mood felt good all the way through. Very nice guitar. Good vocals and lyrics.

Nice Vocals...
I really enjoyed the alternate vocals between male and female.

No doubt the vocalists are the "instruments" that stand out.

Nice on pitch vocals and the lead acoustic solo is a nice compliment.

While I prefer a more
"and" sound, I found myself enjoying this little number.

Thumbs up!

Very Cool Sound
I like the two vocalists in the song. It creates a good sound. While the guitar in it is well played. The begining guitar starts of the song in a good way. Great job...keep it up.

Good mood of Jazzy / Blues feel
A very soft delivery for a good and simple arrangement;
And because it is simple, it does not challenge the listener.

The vocals do compliment each other in this piece, however, it is a straight line song, without dynamics that could help lift the mood a bit more; The lack of key changes and format of only verses & a short bridge, makes you feel lazy and perhaphs, that is the intent;

It is a good mood, but a more aggresive arrangement woudl have delivered more musical qualities.

A more diverse song writing style which adds a couple of layers will improve an already established mood.

Um...
Merely because a guitarist starts off a song with a blues pentatonic scale doesn't make it blues. More importantly, one acoustic guitar, one male voice doing a jazz scat of the lyric line "stop staring at me" while a breathy Sade female voice does a counter point does not make it rock. It's cool, and I'm dying to know more about these two to find out what their thing is all about...but it sure as shootin' ain't blues rock. Someone needs to pay more attention to what genre they send their songs to...

Cute male female interplay
Slow start with and acoustic guitar, then back and forth between a male and female vocal trading phrases. the make vocal has a little Ben Harper quality to it... the recording is substandard and the overall volume is low... it's got a sort of a loose jazzy hippy stoner kind of vibe but even with that as a given the backing is loose to the point of being diffuse...
I would tighten up the playing and maybe beef up the tune with some bongos and a bass guitar... the male an female vocalists sound kinda cute her voice is kind of waif-like in quality.
- ZootHornRollo from Corvallis, Oregon on 9May2006

folk blues
this is pretty cool. I like the lead guitar. the two vocal parts make this
special. This is more of a folk blues then blues rock. Whatever it's catchy and I kinda like it. I would like to see you in play this in some dark smokey bar. That way you guys wouldn't see me staring at you while you play it.
- jillted from Nashville, Tennessee on 7May2006

The Joy
An interesting and unique song with an intriguing mood featuring a melodic exchange of male and female vocals over accoustic guitars.
The picking is fine as is the rhythym which has a nice bass feel to it. The guitars synchronize well with the vocals creating pleasant peaks and valleys throughout the piece.
The female voice has a haunting resonance creating a mysterious yearning feel.
I listened to this song several times and enjoyed it a little more with each playing. I discovered new subtleties each time I listened leading me to conclude that while this music isn't necessarily my genre of choice it is nonetheless complex, intriguing, pleasing and even a little uplifting.
I would rate the songwriting, vocals and guitar-work all very highly.
- coltie from Canada on 7May2006

poppy
cool sounding song. I think there should maybe be another rythem somewhere in the song though. As groovy as it is.. it seems like its missing something. The vocals are just a bit corny.. but they work. nice song.
- TheeLord from Chicago, Illinois on 5May2006

Good, nice...
Nice feel to song. I lke two lead vocals ( female, male ), is original and good combinacion.

The lead guitar has a good feeling.
- rafelstone from Spain on 5May2006

pop
great acoustic guitar.the vocals are a bit quiet and they fit in well.i really think the guitar is good. maybe a bit repetitive.could be less of the same guitar.i like when theres a bluesy guitar riff over the main riff but theres too much main riff and you lose marks for that.
- cargopants from Kildare, Ireland on 5May2006

Not your everyday blues
I'm enjoying the chord structure of the song. Not your everyday blues. I like the connection between the male and female vocalists, adds a real nice flavor and balance. Nice tone on the guitar as well. I like how the production was kept nice and simple, too much would probably kill the mood of this tune. Even though the lyrics pretty much stayed the same, it was still quite engaging. Stellar performance
- ellis_pellis from Ellicott City, Maryland on 5May2006

nice soothing wistful piece!
good length nice wistful open with guitar...vocam intro papproprate,,,get more intereting with female intro...call/respne format...vocals could be pushed up ith a slight goos a 3000 eq(this does help clarity---you'll see. In any case, I like the drift..it's a creative, experimenta piece...nice consitstent mood with a groud with oodles of futher potential. this song stand on its own...leave it s s, in y view, nice piece!
- danaclancy from South Easton, Massachusetts on 4May2006

Sounded more like R&B or Alternative at least
I really didn't pick up blues rock from this tune.
I do however like think that it sounded more like R&B/Alternative rock. I really enjoyed the feel with the Dodi sounding female vocal over the repetative groove of the male vocal. I liked the mood and the repeating vocal lyric "Stop staring at me. Stop staring at me. Stop staring at me cuz you're gonna give me stage fright."

I think that maybe a little more on the master volume for your tracks would do some good unless you intended for this to be a more quiet and subtle tune. If that's the case then please disregard.

Cool stuff.

A candle in the dark
What a great idea! When the girl comes in, it's like a candle's lit. Cool melody lines. Catchy and clever.
- MayaSky from New York on 3May2006

nice
a simple yet soulful aproach to the guitar is always good. this track made me smile, thank you good stuff keep playing
- breadwinner from Goleta, California on 3May2006

Keller watchout!!
Great voice if you've ever heard of Keller Williams its a similar voice and he's loved by many not a bad start. The lead guitar is nice and simple not often now adays, the rythm is a little choppy for my taste but if you dig it no harm then. Its what its all about. All around solid song and structure maybe a bass up to you.
- hparker from Unspecified on 3May2006

Interesting
Al Jaurea(sp?) vocals and some bluesy guitar with a subdued female vocal holding down the fort. This could almost be in a jazz/fusion genre, but I guess the guitar makes it fit here, kind of. Some insite on the lyrics, If people staring at you gives you stage fright, you might be in the wrong business. Rythmically the vocal line sounds good though. I wish it had a change to take the song away from this little groove for a few seconds, but it didn't. The recording sounded good, everything was clean and sparse, a little to sparse actually. The vocal performance was good, from both singers, and the guitar was well played also. Keep working on it.
- JonWunderlich from Atlanta, Georgia on 3May2006

Beginnings R wonderful...
Duo me, yea, like this idea of both types of singers. Go ahead talk to me 1 time! The female vocalist is now in the moment, love her tone and sexy voz appeal, wait till she finds her creative ability. Not a whole lot there for her to do but you know she can let it go at any moment. Nice rythym guitar and good guitar accents. At times the singers have a air that they are rushing, could be the the songs design. On the right track, cool song.
- jzlive316 from Austin, Texas on 3May2006

Subtle
This is in the wrong genre. But what the hey....cool idea! The vocals are strong. The phrasing of the male part is very coooool! The song lacks a hook though.A word of advice...dont play this live. Everyone will leave.
- jeffreylyle from Unspecified on 3May2006

Good guitar intro
This song is a contemporary journey through the backroads of America. I like the female vocals, but she sounds too much like Edie Brickell. The guitar is warm and melodic in this sound and the male vocals sing a truly poetic background.

There are no drums to speak of, so no comment there.

There is no bass, so no feedgback there either.

The arrangment was quality, albiet a little slow for my taste.

The production is not bad, but then not a lot has to be worried about or mixed down. One guitar, two singers, how challenging is that?
Especially when the guitar is an acustic.

The hook is melodic and for the most part this is a classic submission into the grassroots hall of fame. Definite coffeehouse music. Not bad, but not all that catchy, either.
- DarksomeKnight from Charlotte, North Carolina on 3May2006

Soft touch
Nice tune with a soft feel and nice vocals
male vocal is cool ,female vocal very sweet,
guitar work nice and sweet.
Good mood tune
Oveall cool vibe
- sweis from Greeley, Pennsylvania on 3May2006

folk sound with a jazzy feel
Dobro sound guitar start, it's promising for a blues song. As the song actually begins you realize it's more like folk music with a jazzy feel. There is a dialog between a male mellow voice and a very sensual female voice. The production sounds home made in which case they did a great job getting a decent sound. The song is nice, the main hook being the dialog between the two. It doesn't evolve anywhere, it has one part, it's short, it makes a statement and it leaves.

NEW! Signature Reviews from Garageband.com

WOW!! I am not real impressed with many bands I review here but yours blew me away. I was suprised because I don't usually like this genre of music. After i reviewed "With the Leaves" I started making all kinds of plans for this song! Like how it would be great music to play for my husband during a romantic dinner or how nice it would be to hear during a country drive or even just a bubble bath! lol
It has a definate mood to it. I am sending you a friend request on MySpace too. I think you really have talent and it's good to hear originality in a world of cookie cutter tunes.

Rock on!

Epic
Let's start with the fact that it takes balls of steel to upload a nearly eight minute song for the notoriously attention-deficit garageband.com crew to review. I admit I probably groaned audibly when the time indicator popped up.

But, then I was catapulted into the song by that lovely acoustic guitar and the harmonics, and we were off . . This song builds nicely up to the 'So Alone' line.

An interesting call and response type of vocal in the first segment. Very tight. The female voice particularly is wonderfully racked with emotion, she seems like she would be comfortable in many different genres. Overall the music itself and the performance particularly were very strong

An interesting cross pollenation of styles. There are elements of a lot of different styles at work here

The banjo and harp passage was particularly delightful then the dobro slides in and the mood is painted wonderfully.

The weakness, (if there was one) I felt was in the lyrics. With an obvious attempt at something truly epic, here . . . a few of the phrases seemed a little contrived; ie. 'feeling so abused'.

I didn't care too much for the dischordant vocal slide at around 3:07. Other than that, it's an extrordinary effort, and I'm very excited to hear more from this band. Good luck!
