musical magic moments
The acoustic guitar setting up the knee slapping beat, kicking in the drum stick work is very cool. Great drummers can make a coffee table sound fantastic. This drummers coffee table must be marked up pretty good. Traditional yet original, or contemporary ideas come to mind as I listen to the music. Great work there in blending the time periods.

Male and female vocals sound rather pro. Good energy and feelings coming through in their deliveries. Holy crap! Now this is guitar picking! Reminds me of some old classic "outlaws" stuff. The background voices behind the soloing guitars sound so real and "live" like. What energy! I cranked this baby up on my monitors and was really digging it. Awesome job, capturing a live musical magic moment.

I can't really find anything to citicize here because I liked this so much. I was going to comment on the six minute length being too much, but after hearing this great playing and energetic live performance, I figure it's just the right length. Great work! Keep it up.

Carry On!
Intro has a very upbeat folksy rock feel.

Adequate acoustic and rhythm section.

Sad storyline but shit happens, and by the way, if it only happens once, feel lucky! Fiction or not, the delivery by the female vocals and the male vocals was believable enough. Also, it was performed professionally.

. Real nice basic arrangement, (so far), which leads the listener down this gravel road of sorts. “Then we turn left at the big tree, yup, and then go strait, yup.” Note: These are not words to the song. I was sort of riding along with my head out the window and…never mind.

Rock, Blues, Rock-a-Billy, What doesn't this piece have? Real good delivery of the guitars, all the while the backbone bass and drums plug along like an old mule that's been down this trail many times before. The sweet delivery of the first guitar solo sort of helps grab the listener in a little closer. Then the vocal refrain really does it for me. However, The dude part should be “Just a guy sometime” Guy thing.

It sounds cool though, and of course you couldn’t end the piece there, now could you? Too short, so what are going to do? You take the listener down a short cut that really takes longer the main road. Ah, clever.

I must admit that the length may hamper the piece a bit, you know, six and a half minutes. (Even though I listened to the whole thing) so don’t be surprised if you hear that from others.

Somewhat of a live feel here and there. (Can’t tell if it's staged or not). So, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Anyway it sounds cool, and makes it a little more personal in my opinion and I thank you for that.

Nice overall ambience and mood.

Carry On!

Self indulgent soloing spoils a good song!
This song sets the mood right from the start and the female/male vocal combination works well although I preferred the female singer of the two. The stick on the rim of the snare works a treat as does the guitar solo in the middle. Unfortunately it tends to go on a bit long as does the track as a whole. The guitar solo could have been cut down to a maximum of 16 bars. Instead of the track finishing with a much too long solo section, the vocals should have been re-intriduced. By the time the track had ended I had forgotten all the good work done at the front.

Awesome!
So unique, a breath of fresh air. It sounds very folksy in the beginning and then switches to a more alternative feel and back again... love it!!! Like both male and female vocals. Nice melody. Nice fills with the guitar riffs. You have something very special here. Keep writing and making awesome music! I'm adding you to my playlist!

NICE CATCHY SONG
NICE MIX OF MALE AND FEMALE VOCALS AND INTERESTING JAZZY FEEL TO THE SONG.
NICE GUITAR AND BANJO.THE MORE I LISTENED THE MORE I LIKED IT.

rhythmic tour!
Sort of a daughter-of-Ricki Lee Jones start caught my attention right off. A great moving, bouncy, light-as-a-feather band track supports the two vocalists with ease and style.

The shift to a (semi)islands sound with a fine acoustic(?) lead really picks up the middle of this song.

Not quite sure on the idea of the vocals way under the band towards the later part of the excellent riffing. Thought it was a bit of a distraction, this song stands up fine without it.....and then Banjo!

This definitely sounds like a gigging bands song, not studio tailored.

An engaging, rhythmic tour!

ok
A little long. The female voice I am absolutely in love with. Great singer.

Good song in the end. Again, like I said, very long for a song of this design. Won't be radio at this length.

I like the lyrical flow through the verses.

Cure Folk
Wow..love the tone of the vocals. Nice harmonies, shuffle beat and guitar solo. Django meets the Cure meets Simon and Garfunkle...cool.

New Scholl Fleetwood Mac
I liked this cong a lot althought I think it draged on a bit it was a little long and it seemed to change hald way through witch was little wired to me but I did enjoy it for the most part.

good work!
Nice playing at the outset...a real toe-tapper, and the breathless lyrics work very nicely.

I like the duetting vocals too - both parts are sung with feeling, and the band sounds generally very together.

good work

Starts Out Nice: Derails After Two Minutes
This song is extremely unique. It starts out with a very dynamic duet and then goes into a tap dancing drumstick phase with distant vocals. This song has an improvised Jam session feel to it. The lyrics were nice while they lasted, as were the vocals. Then the entire project gets high jacked by the ghost of Gregory Heinz. This song would have been an incredible piece if someone had had the sense to slow fade at about the two-minute mark. Then it would have been too short but less artsy. The female vocalist has a wonderful voice (reminds me a bit of Tanita Tikaram) that should have been the center of attention along with her duet partner whom could also carry things along nicely. However, the musicians decided to mutiny the entire show and steel the spotlight (unless they really were tap dancing instead of tapping drumsticks.) I think it was a very poor choice in arrangement. The production quality of this piece is fair. It goes down tremendously with the cough/clearing of throat at 6:17. This is a simple case of too much of anything will kill you. You have a really nice sounding song if you redo it or change things up a lot it would work better. Pulling any song off this long is a real challenge, even for the seasoned pro. Don’t be so adventurous until after you have broken into the business. Best of luck and I hope this review helps you.

Fun rockin'
Like the movement in the beat. Its a fun experience to listen to it, with foot tapping and leg a-bouncing. Like the females raspy voice quality good male accompaniment. Exciting guitar playing takes one to a happy place. Like it very much!! Good-luck.
- tkharg from Hartselle, Alabama on 10May2006
Excellent Voice
The vocals really shine in this song as they are layered over simple acustic rhythems which leads to a great folk song.

Rollicking
Celtic folk rock. Very nice guitar solo. Very nice. Very spirited track. Original in a sea of sameness. The sticks are an especially nice touch, as are the well crafted instrumental breaks.
- Newstetter from San Francisco, California on 9May2006
Instrumental?
First 30 seconds are an example of an awesome build up. Everything comes in nicely and is totally welcome when it does come in. My favorite is the perc. Spoons? I don't know. The famale vocalist is great. Nice power, but restraint at the right moments. I'm not such a fan of the male vocals as they are pretty soft and a different mode entirely from the female vox. Cool guitar solo. That's a really cool thing you do with the voc around 4:00, where they are part of the background noise but not. While I'm a bit fan of banjo, the instrumental bit goes on for a very long time. I guess it's the genre though, and to be honest, I'm pretty new to folk rock.

grabs your ears and won't let go!
this song grabs your ears and won't let go - there is vibe to this male / female vocals that make you fell like your listening to two songs at once but it does stop there at 2:20ish another takeoff that develops the song on more time????!!!! GREAT writing and arrangement! this is excellent! great percussion throughout - great guitar work - i like the "talking" in the solo it makes it sound "alive and fun" great recording and mix - an absolute must listen to this jam trax! great originality band!

Beautiful, but what's the hurry?
I enjoyed the song, its lyrics and instruments. Unique sound. Great guitar playing. The only thing I felt bad about was that it reminded me of piano recitals when students don't realize how fast they are playing. I would chop down the last 2 to 3 minutes and try slowing down the entire pace of the song to give more time to listen to the lyrics and message.
- PeterSinger from Saint Simons Isl, Georgia on 7May2006
Great job, catchy tune, great vocals, ready f..
Great lead vocal and I like the second voice call and answer verses. Harmonies are good.

I love the percussion work at the start of the song.

Really moves along nicely. Great dynamic variability.

Catchy hook. Chorus sounds great with each singer together.

Well produced and well mixed.

Nice guitar work...

Great job, radio-ready, though it may need to be trimmed for a non-album version i.e. build up to the climax quicker with less noodling - though I like the current length for an album!
- mkogon from Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 7May2006
Surprise
Nice guitar rythm. The greatest elements of this song are the vocals. Very nice harmonies that present different combinations (female-male, male-male, then female-male). Nice break there after 2:00... the guitar solo is good it's a class on its own. The song is a bit too long but the different sections are pleasantly surprising.
- tonitskiii from Elk Grove, California on 6May2006
cool
good verse and i like the two singers.

but overall the lyrics are not good for me.

no real hooks.

but overall i like it.

Emotion emotion emotion
I don't feel any emotion in this lyric. The music is o.k. What is the meaning to the song. What is the universally shared emotion?

NEW! Signature Reviews from Garageband.com

WOW!! I am not real impressed with many bands I review here but yours blew me away. I was suprised because I don't usually like this genre of music. After i reviewed "With the Leaves" I started making all kinds of plans for this song! Like how it would be great music to play for my husband during a romantic dinner or how nice it would be to hear during a country drive or even just a bubble bath! lol
It has a definate mood to it. I am sending you a friend request on MySpace too. I think you really have talent and it's good to hear originality in a world of cookie cutter tunes.

Rock on!

Epic
Let's start with the fact that it takes balls of steel to upload a nearly eight minute song for the notoriously attention-deficit garageband.com crew to review. I admit I probably groaned audibly when the time indicator popped up.

But, then I was catapulted into the song by that lovely acoustic guitar and the harmonics, and we were off . . This song builds nicely up to the 'So Alone' line.

An interesting call and response type of vocal in the first segment. Very tight. The female voice particularly is wonderfully racked with emotion, she seems like she would be comfortable in many different genres. Overall the music itself and the performance particularly were very strong

An interesting cross pollenation of styles. There are elements of a lot of different styles at work here

The banjo and harp passage was particularly delightful then the dobro slides in and the mood is painted wonderfully.

The weakness, (if there was one) I felt was in the lyrics. With an obvious attempt at something truly epic, here . . . a few of the phrases seemed a little contrived; ie. 'feeling so abused'.

I didn't care too much for the dischordant vocal slide at around 3:07. Other than that, it's an extrordinary effort, and I'm very excited to hear more from this band. Good luck!
