Original
I like what you've got. You appear to be using all the elements of your band to great potential.
The vocals seem to be mixed a little too far out front. The band sounds great and the progression is engaging but seems to be buried behind the vocals. With this type of song, it's okay to balance the vocals a little less out front, especially when the song is so enticing.

good melody
I like the melody to this song, singer has good control over his voice...slightly reminiscent of Ben Folds, but still original enough that it's not venturing into generic territory. The production sounds a little bit weak, in the sense that it is adequate, but definitely not radio quality. I like the mood to it. Piano coming in the middle of the song sounds a little busy, maybe a little less is more? Song moves around a lot, goes a bit long in that middle section. Shorten that up a bit and it'll hold the listener's attention a bit more. Good melodies!

Color
I like music that takes me away from the day to day and you have done just that. Good production and mood.

Song makes you move
This song just makes you move in your seat. The beat is quite catchy and the singing that resembles jazz scat adds to the rhythmic feeling of this song. The vocals start out a bit too loud vs. the guitar, but later in the song the instruments and vocals balance out.

bub bub bubbida
Nice coffe-house acoustic guitar on intro. Good use of phrasing with the strumming hand, varied. The snare drum in the background is a nice touch.
Great vocal harmonizing. The bubbity-bubbity lyric is fun.
Good use of "horns" and keyboards that came in during and after the bridge. Very dynamic progression. This song took me for a ride with many tempo changes and levels of intensity. Sharing lead vocal duties made for an engaging listen. This sounds like it took a long time to arrange. Nice work. Not my usual listen, but I would listen again.

Whimsical Experimental Pop
I like the whimsical, unpredicable lyrical quality of the song, but the music becomes rather goofy - is this what you're going for? The piano coup midway in the song really rocks. Okay, this piece sounds like three separate songs unless your going for an experimental pop suite. I'm having trouble getting a cohesive feel to the whole piece, but kudos for creativity.

Cute
This is ok, the general home recorded vibe is allright. The bubbida bubbida stuff annoys me but hey, maybe it's me. The vibe is one of simplicity almost intentionaly simplistic. The breakdown into solo piano is interesting in a very eccentric sort of way. The whole thing goes on a little longer than I'd like and is maybe a little bit to cute for my taste.Edit ti down and I think it would help. I'm sure there's folks that will like it more though.

Getting up for this
This song strikes me like Iron & Wine on really good Prozac with the dual opposite sex vocals and simple instrumentation. The guitars were kind of difficult to hear and the drums need a bit more bass to them but the piano at around 3 minutes was a stroke of compositional genius. Not only that but I can hear that instrument. It's 8am right now and I am totally digging this song as the sun rises through my office window and my first cup of coffee starts to race through my veins.
- Tsumi from Unspecified on 13Apr2006

poppy feel good track
so much today is bent on the negative its nice to hear some upbeat music. I like the fact that the singers uses their voices as an instrument also.
- ElecMoon from Unspecified on 12Apr2006

Harmonious
A great jaunty start. There are some stunning harmonies throughout, the vocals meshing together perfectly. It's difficult to make any specific comparisons with the sound. The backing is initially acoustic, building up to a full band which is never obtrusive. I love the piano break about half way through, this goes into a piano vocal section which is very subdued until it starts to rise in to a vocal coda. This is a good song with a great feel.
- stevejay from Horsham, West Sussex, United Kingdom on 11Apr2006

Great song structure.
Awesome harmonies here. I like how quick the song jumps into the vox. I like how the other instruments gradually come into the mix around :45.

I really like the change-up at the end of each chorus. It throws me off at first, but in a good way.

The "buh buh buh buh"s around 2:00 seem to go on a little bit too long. I would be more into that part if it broke down into the piano faster or offered more variety.

I didn't like the break-down at first. It seemed to suck out too much energy from the song, but the vocals bring it back. Maybe bringing the vocals in a little sooner or adding some backing vox before the main vox come in.

I like repeating the main theme in piano around 4:00.

Overall, the song has a lot of great variety, but it feels a little to long. I like the number and diversity of the "parts" of the song, but the parts themselves are a bit too repetitive.

A great song though.

Piano Piano
The male vocalist begins immediately as does the back-up singer. The voice is good but that guitar is excellent. The piano break at 1:30 is sharp as it continues when joined by both a male and female vocalist. Wow - another stronger piano break begins at 2:30. I love the use of the piano, then at 2:58 - hmmm - it stops and only a few keys are played very deliberately and slowly, then the male vocalist re-enters quietly followed by the female vocalist, then another great piano run begins at 3:58 and continues to the end of the song. Although the voices are good, and the piano breaks are super, the piece seems a bit fragmented. Maybe I am missing something here but there is a lot of talent if only it can all be connected together. Best of Luck.

got my attention
catchy song!
like the female backups
don't really care for the bop be bops a little much don't you think?
a little trimming of the bops and you have a great song love the piano at the end
kind of gets lost at the end but using the right producer i could definitely hear it on the radio
- syndicate19 from Wells, Maine on 7Apr2006

Very funny
I love the way your making fun of folk and pop music. Very funny and your vocals are spot on. I would maybe choose a different drum sound, as there is already a lot of treble in the mix and maybe you will want a less bright sound for your drums.

I love the lyrics and they make me laugh. You guys are very talented and I would keep up the good work!

The drums need to be tightened up more so you can maybe dance to this song. Play it live, see what happens.
- lawtonchiles from Tallahassee, Florida on 6Apr2006

Bop!
It's like Simon and Garfunkel, but Garfunkel is a girl! Really, really enjoyed the suite of ideas pasted together in a clever trip of sounds and melodies with harmonies. Not heard often these days. This is a truly brave recording.

The voices both have a slight issue with pitch and intonation, but it's easy to overlook this and listen to what happens next. There are times when the recording appears set to fall down, but it holds together and lands on its feet intact.

I think you'll get a bunch of mixed reviews on this tune. Some GeeBees will get it, others will try and throw poop at you for being so bold in your ambitions. Whatever you do, keep at it. I'd love to hear more of this sort of thing here. You're just what we need to shake up the Garage.

well put together.sounds happy and beachy.harmonys are great.makes you want get away and be happy.good sounding.
- johnny0 from Buffalo, New York on 2Apr2006

Didn't quite get it.
The harmonies are pretty interesting....at the beginning.

Kind of has a Freddy & the Dreamers sound.

I am not sure it is in right category. I think might fit an Alternative music category better.

I am sorry, but some som=ngs and I do not get along.

I find the tempo of the song somewhat grating. This might score great in another category though.

The piano lead while it adds something is out of time (the fast part)

Some of singing and harmonies at 4:30 are out of key.

Please take a look at all your reviews and see if there is a pattern. Hopefully mine will be the only one that didn't get it..

Sorry.

Some pitch problems
I really like the spirit of this song a lot. It's very carefree and fun, and the female voice on this track is really great.

Whoever she is, you should beg her to be on all your tracks with you (marry her if needed), because her good pitch and nice voice are making your nice voice and poor pitch sound forgivable.

I'm sorry to say it, but your pitch is creating some roadblocks for my enjoyment of your fun, cool song. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that your pitch issues start from the very first line of your tune.

The word "am", second in the song, is kind of pitchy, but at the end of that line, the word "road" is very pitchy. Luckily for you, Miss Nice Voice saves your bacon on line number two.

Its obvious throughout the life of the song that you can sing, you just need to take a few more vocal takes to get it just right. I know you have it in you!
- jim_hodgson from Smyrna, Georgia on 29Mar2006

Hmmm
All in all I guess it's not a bad song. Some of the singers phrasing was a bit annoying. The female parts were nice harmonies/leads.

Musically the song has too much going on for me, but hey, that's just me. It just seemed they tried to fit too much in.

As far as production goes I think it was alright but maybe could be tweaked out a little to get more of a polished sound.

I'm sorry to say the mood and the lyrics did little for me. But once again this is just my opinion. I bet some will love this!!

Keep on Keepin' on

NEW! Signature Reviews from Garageband.com

WOW!! I am not real impressed with many bands I review here but yours blew me away. I was suprised because I don't usually like this genre of music. After i reviewed "With the Leaves" I started making all kinds of plans for this song! Like how it would be great music to play for my husband during a romantic dinner or how nice it would be to hear during a country drive or even just a bubble bath! lol
It has a definate mood to it. I am sending you a friend request on MySpace too. I think you really have talent and it's good to hear originality in a world of cookie cutter tunes.

Rock on!

Epic
Let's start with the fact that it takes balls of steel to upload a nearly eight minute song for the notoriously attention-deficit garageband.com crew to review. I admit I probably groaned audibly when the time indicator popped up.

But, then I was catapulted into the song by that lovely acoustic guitar and the harmonics, and we were off . . This song builds nicely up to the 'So Alone' line.

An interesting call and response type of vocal in the first segment. Very tight. The female voice particularly is wonderfully racked with emotion, she seems like she would be comfortable in many different genres. Overall the music itself and the performance particularly were very strong

An interesting cross pollenation of styles. There are elements of a lot of different styles at work here

The banjo and harp passage was particularly delightful then the dobro slides in and the mood is painted wonderfully.

The weakness, (if there was one) I felt was in the lyrics. With an obvious attempt at something truly epic, here . . . a few of the phrases seemed a little contrived; ie. 'feeling so abused'.

I didn't care too much for the dischordant vocal slide at around 3:07. Other than that, it's an extrordinary effort, and I'm very excited to hear more from this band. Good luck!
